Not every manuscript requires every stage.

4. Human-Led Editing

Editorial work at The Sculpted Word is human-led. I may use professional editorial support tools to help identify possible patterns, repetitions, pacing concerns, consistency issues, or stylistic habits, but those tools do not make editorial decisions.

All editorial recommendations, manuscript notes, and suggested changes are reviewed and shaped by me.

Assessment Fees

Every editing project begins with a manuscript assessment. This allows me to determine what level of editorial support the manuscript actually needs before quoting the full edit.

The assessment includes a review of the manuscript, a brief editorial summary, a recommended editing scope, and the confirmed per-word editing rate before editing begins.

If the author proceeds with the recommended edit within 30 days, the assessment fee may be credited toward the editing invoice.

Editing Rates

After the manuscript assessment, I will recommend the appropriate editing depth and provide a confirmed per-word rate before editing begins.

Final pricing is based on the agreed manuscript word count at the start of editing. Second-pass proofreading after author revisions is quoted separately if needed.

Payment Options
I understand that professional editing is an investment. Once the assessment is complete and the editing scope has been confirmed, a custom payment link will be provided. Depending on availability through the payment processor, installment options such as Klarna may appear at checkout. Approval and installment terms are handled by Klarna, not The Sculpted Word.

  • Yes. While I work with a wide range of fiction, I reserve the right to decline projects that fall outside my areas of expertise, professional interests, or personal comfort level. If I believe your manuscript would be better served by another editor, I will let you know before any editorial work begins.

  • Deposits are non-refundable once editorial work has begun. If an agreement is ended in writing, work completed up to that point may still be billed proportionally.
